Inside: NAIA T3’s Miascor Sky View Lounge

After a long wait, MIASCOR Sky View Lounge has finally opened its doors to passengers departing from Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA/MNL) Terminal 3 (T3) last February 2015. It just makes sense, since most major airlines (Emirates – which uses the lounge as its business class lounge, Delta, Singapore, etc.) have already transferred its operations from Terminal 1 (T1) since last year.

Of course, this is better news for credit card holders with free lounge access as part of their privileges because the benefit has just widened its reach (please see below for the full list of credit cards with this benefit), as long as you are departing from T1 or T3 on an international flight (even if you’re flying Cebu Pacific).

The Sky View lounge is a no frills lounge. All the basic stuff a normal traveller would need to survive a long wait are in the lounge. Since this new lounge is located in the newer NAIA T3, the facility at Sky View lounge is noticeably fresher, brighter, and more spacious. As expected, there are private, clean, and spacious bathrooms, as well as prayer rooms and business centers with printers to ensure a productive stay.

Entertainment features have been upgraded as well, thanks to the newest Samsung ‘curved’ TVs gracing the lounge with a wide range of movies to choose from. A number of travel magazines and free high speed WI-FI access are ready as well to keep boredom at bay.

The food was OK but there weren’t that much choices, but who am I to complain, right? I just got here for free as a privilege owning a credit card. I had to sample all the food choices – and took alcohol shots, of course. It’s cool that there’s a wide array of drinks to choose from – you’ll never get hungry or thirsty in this place.

These are yummy pastries indeed - OK a little dry, but yummy.

As for the service, it’s the same service you’d get when visiting the older MIASCOR lounge in NAIA Terminal 1. The sweet and gorgeous reception area ladies greet you with a smile as soon as you enter the lounge, and the gracious and courteous staff members are always ready to assist you with your needs. Can’t find a fault in that as they made sure my stay was pleasant.

The only thing I cannot accept was the lack of a smoking lounge. LOL. Unlike in T1, there was a private smoking lounge just steps away. In the newer T3, you’d have to go back from 4th floor where the Sky View lounge is back to the 1st floor, where the boarding areas are. There are a number of coffee shops officialy designated as smoking areas along the halls, but you’d have to buy from them before you can light up your cig. My tip? With a smile and in a friendly tone, ask the nice cashier if you could just buy anything that is cheapest from them and let you smoke – worked for me. :)

A signage on one of the cafes - you can just buy anything cheap so you can smoke (In my case, I bought a Php40 Mentos candy).
